Don't wait to upgrade your avionics systems to comply with the FAA’s ADS-B NextGen initiative.
Your aircraft will be required to be ADS-B (out) equipped by January 1st, 2020.
When you’re required to equip for ADS-B depends largely on where you fly. In the U.S., you must equip by 2020. But in other parts of the world, you may be required to equip much sooner. Regardless of regulations, you can equip today to start taking advantage of ADS-B’s benefits
With ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast), you’ll be required to broadcast your position information to ADS-B ground stations and other aircraft. This is called ADS-B “Out.” But those ground stations are also broadcasting valuable information you can use if your aircraft is equipped to receive it using ADS-B “In” technology.
With ADS-B, each aircraft needs an approved ADS-B position source to calculate its precise position using highly accurate WAAS/SBAS GPS data. This position is then broadcast to ATC and other ADS-B “In” equipped aircraft in their vicinity.
First and foremost, you’ll need a WAAS position source, such as a GNS 430W/530W or GTN series avionics. This calculates your required position, track, altitude and speed information from signals it gathers from GPS satellites and WAAS signal corrections.
Next, you’ll need a way to broadcast this information to ADS-B ground stations. If your aircraft flies at or above 18,000 ft over the U.S., or anywhere internationally, you will be required to use the 1090 MHz frequency using a Mode S Extended Squitter (ES) transponder — such as the GTX 330 ES.
Go with an "all-in-one" solution by choosing either the GTX 335 or GTX 345.
